Haruna Sakurada |
Haruna Sakurada was Usagi Tsukino's 8th grade home-room teacher at Juuban Municipal Junior High School. She had little patience with her students, and often yelled at Usagi for her poor grades and tardiness. In the live-action series, she wasn't strict at all, but she gave out pop quizzes and clean-up duty when necessary.
She acted a little immature for a woman her age - rather like her students, in fact. As an example of this, when Mio Kuroki transferred into her class in the live-action series, she joined in with the students who were excitedly fawning over the famous idol. She also once forgot to dismiss two students who had been given detention while she went out on a date. She dreamed of finding a man and marrying one day.
Haruna was frequently the target of attacks by the Dark Kingdom toward the beginning of the anime series, but showed up less often in later seasons.
Musicals
Kasumi Hyuuga as Haruna Sakurada |
Haruna Sakurada appeared in the first two musicals, Sailor Moon - Gaiden Dark Kingdom Fukkatsu Hen and its revision. She invited Usagi and her friends to accompany her on a foreign vacation during their summer break, but was revealed to be the Youma Managin. She was played by Kasumi Hyuuga and Kiho Seishi.
Trivia
- Fans have theorized that she may be related to Natsuna Sakurada (桜田夏菜) as they both share the same family name and their given names both follow the pattern of season + "na" (菜; meaning "vegetable"). In two of Naoko Takeuchi's other series, The Cherry Project and P.Q. Angels, there are characters who also have the family name Sakurada and whose names follow this pattern (Akina Sakurada (桜田秋菜) and Fuyuna Sakurada (桜田冬菜)).
