Kurume Suri was a boy who appeared in the "Ami's First Love" anime special episode and manga side story. Notes

  • Kurume Suri's names contain a number of puns; the most well known is that his pen name is written the same way that the Latin word "mercurius" (Mercury) is written in katakana. This is the reason for Ami's obsession with beating him, and why she believed he was an enemy targeting her, whereas in truth it was merely a play on the sounds of his own name. His real name contains another pun in that his family name, Suri (数理), is written with the kanji for "mathematics."
  • In the Mixx manga his pen name was changed to "Mercurious," although Amy still claimed that was the Latin word for "Mercury." His real name was never given in that version, and when asked about the pseudonym he simply said, "I've always been curious."
