Reception

The reviews of this DVD were generally quite positive, praising the decision to put seven episodes on one DVD, although the mono sound was criticised, as was the decision to use names from the dub in the uncut English soundtrack.[1] The only difference between the sub and the uncut dub according to Dan of Sailor Moon Uncensored were that "the cut senes were put in and no mirror effects".[2] The DVD artwork was praised as it looked more adult than the cut dub version, and the DVD was praised as "beautiful" several times by Anime News Network.[1] Sailor Moon Uncensored's Dan called the casing "the BEST" (emphasis in original) that he'd ever seen.[2] The episode previews were cut, which was criticised by both Anime News Network and Sailor Moon Uncensored.[1][2] Dan also criticised the use of the third opening sequence to Sailor Moon S on the DVD - in the opening sequences, the Outer Senshi were presented in silhouette until they were revealed to the audience. The opening sequence shown presented all the Outers before they were revealed through the storyline.[2]
