Boxy was a Youma who appeared in the anime episode Bring a Smile to Naru's Face! Usagi's Friendship. Monsters based on Boxy also appeared in the game Sailor Moon: Another Story.

Boxy

Boxy was the second of the Seven Great Youma, reincarnated as a priest. He was released after Zoisite removed the Orange Rainbow Crystal from the priest's body.

Background

Original incarnation

During the era of the Silver Millennium, Boxy served Queen Metalia. As one of the Seven Great Youma, he was amongst the Dark Kingdom's most powerful monsters, although it is unknown precisely what form he took during this time. He participated in Metalia's attack on the Moon, but perished along with the rest of the Dark Kingdom when Queen Serenity used the Silver Crystal against their armies. Boxy was not entirely killed, however - the Silver Crystal neutralised the evil powers of the Seven Great Youma by sealing their souls into crystal fragments, known as Rainbow Crystals. The souls of the Seven Great Youma were then sent into the future, along with the deceased inhabitants of the Moon Kingdom, to be reincarnated as humans.

Reincarnation

Boxy was reincarnated in early twentieth century Japan as a priest. He had no memories of his previous life, and the Orange Rainbow Crystal within him prevented the evil tendencies of his old form from resurfacing.

Reawakening

"I am a champion! Triple punch!"

Zoisite approached the priest in a cemetery, and despite being interrupted by Naru and Sailor Moon, managed to extract the Orange Rainbow Crystal. The priest turned into Boxy and attacked Naru and Sailor Moon, who were saved by Umino and Tuxedo Mask, respectively. Zoisite ordered Boxy to knock Tuxedo Mask out, but before he could manage that, Sailor Jupiter arrived and destroyed his glove with Supreme Thunder. After that, Sailor Moon healed him with Moon Healing Escalation. Meanwhile, Tuxedo Mask had found the rainbow crystal.

Powers

Boxy could shoot his left boxing glove at his opponents. When attacking his foe, Boxy would scream boxing and Christianity-related phrases, such as "I am the king of kings!" and "I am a champion! Lovely punch!" in English.

Sailor Moon: Another Story

Two monsters based upon Boxy appeared as bosses in Sailor Moon: Another Story. They appeared at the beginning of Chapter Three, and challenged the Sailor Senshi in Mugen Academy.

Puns

The name of the youma is a pun on the Japanese word for priest, bokushi (牧師), which is pronounced similar to "Boxy," as well as is the first three characters in the Japanese pronounciation of the word "boxing" (bokushingu ボクシング).

Trivia

The priest after being refreshed

• Moon Healing Escalation seemed to have an additional effect on the priest that it did not have on any of the other rainbow crystal carriers or on any of the other people transformed into Youma. It changed his clothes. When he was transformed into Boxy the priest was wearing a cassock and collar, however, after refreshing he was inexplicably wearing white vestments. Also, although all the other people who were healed by Moon Healing Escalation collapsed from exhaustion, he did not do so and instead gave a sermon.
