Time Stop was the third and final taboo of space-time over which Sailor Pluto had control. As explained by Queen Serenity, if Sailor Pluto used this power it would result in time stopping for a short period, but the price of using the power was her life. Regardless, Sailor Pluto used this power once in the anime and once in the manga and Sailor Moon Crystal, as well as in the musicals and games.

Anime[edit]
Sailor Pluto first used Time Stop when she, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus were in their helicopter trying to bypass the barrier set up by Mistress 9 around Mugen Academy in the S season of the anime. As they were approaching the star-shaped opening at the top of the barrier, Mistress 9 sent a horde of Daimons to stop them, and the helicopter was surrounded and destroyed. At the moment of the explosion, however, Sailor Pluto stopped time and allowed Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune to escape and fall to the roof of the building below. When time resumed, the helicopter was blown to shreds with Sailor Pluto still inside.
Manga[edit]
Time Stop was used in the Black Moon arc of the manga when Prince Demande took the two Silver Crystals from Black Lady and tried to touch them to one another. Doing this would cause the destruction of everything, because the Crystals of the past and future must never meet. Sailor Pluto stopped time to prevent it from happening, and Usagi then removed the Crystals from Demande's hands. When time resumed, Sailor Pluto died, which triggered Black Lady's reversion to Chibiusa as well as her first transformation into Sailor Chibi Moon.
Musicals[edit]
Time Stop was first used in the musical Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and its revision to counter Sailor Galaxia's manipulation of time. Later, in Tanjou! Ankoku no Princess Black Lady and its revision, Sailor Pluto used Time Stop under the same circumstances as in the manga. Though she did die after using it, she was revived before the Sailor Senshi left the 30th century.
Video Games[edit]
In the video game Sailor Moon: Another Story, Time Stop was one of Sailor Pluto's three attacks. Using it caused all enemies to freeze for two turns, but it depleted her skill points. Unlike in the other versions of the series, her life was not affected by the use of this power. This power also appeared, named as "Jikan Teishi" (時間停止; Time Stop), without consequences for Sailor Pluto's life in the Sailor Moon S game for the 3DO.
Trivia[edit]
- When Sailor Pluto used this power in the musicals the name was in Japanese, but the lyrics of one of her image songs, "Forbidden Hades," included the English phrase "Time Stop."
