Talk:Ryo Urawa

I find it slightly strange that the name used here is "Ryo" and not "Ryou" - it has a long vowel. Was it a spelling used in ADV subtitles or something? Just asking. --YnK 06:09, 5 August 2011 (MST)

Not specifically answering your question, but just FYI: both "Ryo" & "Ryou," among others, are valid romanizations of the long vowel. --210 06:23, 5 August 2011 (MST)
I know. But articles such as Yuuichirou Kumada, Rie Gotou and others use "ou". That's why I asked. I thought we should use consistent romanization? --YnK 06:31, 5 August 2011 (MST)
As I understand, there's no policy on such cases here yet, apart from using official romanizations, if any. --210 06:56, 5 August 2011 (MST)
I see. Not going to complain, but the fact there's a link to Shinichirou Ohta in the box makes the romanization inconsistent even within one page. ^_^ I figured out you might be spelling it "Ryo" on purpose if it was written this way somewhere, hence my question. --YnK 07:17, 5 August 2011 (MST)
I think such inconsistency is no big deal, as it occurs in the Japanese media, too - it all depends on how the name concerned is officially romanized. --210 01:51, 6 August 2011 (MST)
There's no official policy, but unofficial policy seems to be either use an official romanization or show the long vowel if there is one. Kerochan no Miko 12:09, 5 August 2011 (MST)
