Talk:Disguise Pen

DENelson, I have to disagree with you on the "maturing" part - I've watched the clip several times now and I don't see any breast enlargement going on (I assume that's what you're talking about). She does thrust her chest out, which might give you that impression, but that's it. Kerochan no Miko 00:13, 28 August 2006 (MST)

My internal videogrammetry does indicate that she gains some height. That's what led me to that notion. -- DENelson83 01:33, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Her facial features do seem more mature in some of her transformations... What about her fortune teller in ep. 30? She gets a thin mustasche in that one; make-up or gender change? --Rosen 02:22, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Uh, that's a fake mustache. -- DENelson83 03:47, 28 August 2006 (MST)
How do you know? ~_^ --Rosen 03:52, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Hmm. I always got the impression that the Disguise Pen did little more than change her outfit, given that people could quite often see through the disguises (Rei in episode 30, and Minako in episode 52). dooky 07:21, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Only Senshi can see through such disguises. -- DENelson83 14:00, 28 August 2006 (MST)
I'd say the evidence for that is highly circumstantial. The Senshi are more likely to see through the disguise because they know Usagi, whereas most of the people she interacts with in her disguises don't. the only time I can recall someone else she knew seeing one of her disguises was Kenji in episode 22, and he didn't get a very good look at her. dooky 15:19, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Agreed - the disguise pen wasn't used enough for us to have sufficient data to prove whether or not being a Senshi makes it easier to see through the disguises. I could always see through them. :P Kerochan no Miko 15:55, 28 August 2006 (MST)
Yeah, but then again, you're a real-world person. :PP -- DENelson83 18:15, 28 August 2006 (MST)
I reckon the fourtune tell was fake mustache but in the manga it does seem the disguise pen and Minako's compact can change the users sex. Or at least make them look very, very much like the opposite sex... after all this is Minako:

If you notice in Act 5 of the manga, Usagi disguises herself as a groom to fool the 'ghost-bride'. She did appear to be a guy in that scene, but I don't think that the disguise pen had power enough to do what the Starlights did in every scene they transformed in the anime. Item name[edit]

The Nakayoshi albums refer to this item as ライトな変装ペン at least twice, so maybe the article title should be modified according to the full name? Or will a note be sufficient in this case? --YnK 05:59, 4 August 2011 (MST)

"ライトな" is an adj./modifier for "変装ペン", but is it also part of its formal name? --210 06:12, 4 August 2011 (MST)
Appears to be part of the name, because it is written this way in the glossary section, which tends to include "official" item names. --YnK 06:18, 4 August 2011 (MST)
The Materials Collection only calls it 変装ペン. Kerochan no Miko 10:21, 4 August 2011 (MST)
Well, the Materials Collection is mainly pre-production sketches for the manga, while the Nakayoshi albums provide extra information on the anime version; so, if the album's glossary uses a particular name, then this name can be considered official for the anime version. If you think we should stick to the name given to it originally (in which case I don't understand why so many articles specifically use anime names and terms), then the name from the album should at least be in the trivia section. Should I add a note about it, then? --YnK 10:40, 4 August 2011 (MST)
Yes, but as shown by the bit about the Cosmic Heart Compact, it's pretty clear that not everything in the Nakayoshi albums is 100% correct. Kerochan no Miko 12:59, 4 August 2011 (MST)
Heh, true, but at least in this case the name is consistent between different parts of the guide. --YnK 13:27, 4 August 2011 (MST)

Is "ライト" actually referring to "penlight" here? --210 02:48, 5 August 2011 (MST)
