Shield was a Youma summoned by Queen Mio along with its partner, Sword, to assist her efforts to re-create the Dark Kingdom in the Special Act. Unlike Sword, Shield rarely attacked, and apparently could not be injured. It attacked Minako and her bodyguards when she was on her way to meet with her friends at the location of the Legendary Sword, but she managed to escape through unknown means.
Shield and Sword together later attacked Prince Endymion and the Shitennou. During the battle, whenever Endymion attempted to attack Sword, Shield would step in and take the blow, seemingly taking no damage. After a brief battle against both Youma, Prince Endymion tricked Sword into destroying its partner.
