Sag das Zauberwort

Sag das Zauberwort ("Say the Magic Word") was the first opening theme song used in the German dub of the Sailor Moon anime. The song was most prominently used for the first season. A short, slow version of it was also used as ending song throughout the series. Both versions were performed by Tina Hierstetter. The theme was also reused in the Dutch dub under the title "Zeg het Toverwoord."

While widely known and referred to as "Sag das Zauberwort" within the German fandom, it should be noted that the song's title is consistently given as "Sailor Moon" in official soundtrack CDs.

• The phrase "Moonstone fly and win" in the second-to-last line, was the German translation of Moon Tiara Action. It can hence be assumed that the second line of the lyrics ("Hold the Moonstone firmly") also refers to Sailor Moon's tiara.

• The song has been released on CD in an "English Mix" with new lyrics in English. They are not a translation of the original German lyrics.
