- This was the first act of the new Sailor Moon series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, and as such the first animated episode to air since the last episode of the first anime series seventeen years earlier.
- This was the first act to use "Moon Pride" as the opening theme song and "Gekkou" as the ending theme song.
- This act featured the first appearances of Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon and her introductory speech, Ikuko Tsukino, Luna, Jadeite, the Youma, Naru Osaka, Gurio Umino, Yumiko, Kuri, Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask, Motoki Furuhata, Shingo Tsukino, Ami Mizuno, the Transformation Brooch, the transformation Moon Prism Power, Make Up, the Supersonic Waves, and the attack Moon Tiara Boomerang. It was also the first to include glimpses of Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion and show Sailor V, all of whom would not appear physically until later.
- This act featured the only appearances of Haruna Sakurada and Naru's mother.
- This was the first act directed by Munehisa Sakai, the first one written by Yuji Kobayashi, and the first to feature the animation direction of Kozue Komatsu.
