Can I make a page for a Greek group of fandubbers named WoD? (Wings of Destiny). I have seen there are a few pages for fandub groups. This group made a Greek fandub for Specials and Movies in Greece and some episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal. They frequently ask things like "who is the guardian of Venus?" What does it want there? Sailor Venus? Or her civilian name Minako, or her full name Minako Aino? Nothing ever seems to work. 50.24.16.38 21:25, 9 March 2021 (EST)

Use of gairaigo in Sailor Moon
One thing that has never been noted in any anime wiki that I've seen is the Japanese concept of "garaigo" which literally means "foreign language words." I'm sure by the context you can infer that this means the use of foreign words in Japanese. What's not well known however, is that the use of gairaigo involves reconstructing the foreign words with Japanese phonemes that can be written in katakana. I put this note in a talk page https://wikimoon.org/index.php/Talk:Jupiter,_the_Brawny_Girl_in_Love#A_gag_in_the_episode_that_needs_clarification but I don't think that such a long, detailed explanation of gairaigo is appropriate in the article itself. Instead, I was thinking of just making a short note that reads like "When Sailor Jupiter performs Supreme Thunder for the first time, Sailor Moon mishears it as "Chou Cream Sundae" (Shū kurīmu sandē) because the garaigo pronunciation of "Supreme Thunder" (Shūpurīmu sandā) is phonetically similar. Since most people who speak English can't read Japanese Katakana, I would use the romanization so that it would be sufficiently clarified. Despite some arguments, Sailor Moon R, S, and SuperS finally have summaries, now properly brief instead of ridiculously long, and you've updated the episode infobox template to say "First English Dub Episode" instead of "English Dub Episode," acknowledging that the new dub exists. This is great. There are still some requests I'm waiting for your response to on various talk pages. 50.24.16.38 22:16, 13 March 2021 (EST)

:Yes, I do listen to suggestions when they're made, just as I have done since this wiki started fifteen years ago. This is not an unusual thing, and I'm not sure why you're treating it as such. ::What you said here definitely gave that impression. I also got the impression that you were belittling me telling me I was stupid for caring about something like that, as if I'd be the only one who would want this or that the issue is not important otherwise. Interactions like this gave me the impression that you were stubborn and not open to listening to suggestions of other editors. You did finally update the template to say "First English dub," but you were being stubborn about it and I felt like I was plowing concrete. When you say "I'm not sure why you're treating it as such," this is why. You may not be doing this on purpose, you might just not be aware of how your words and actions are being perceived by others. :::You showed up here one day and started angrily yelling about how terrible this wiki is, staying anon without even caring enough to make an actual user account, and demanded that we had to make changes simply because you personally wanted it to happen and no other reason. I did listen, and I did consider, and I did make changes that I thought were reasonable, but you seem to have expected a super warm reception for no reason. == Use of gairaigo in Sailor Moon (may need it's own article) ==

I still haven't thought of a username yet, but this is an article that may be worth creating. Almost every anime every made has some gairaigo in it, but Sailor Moon uses gairaigo much more extensively. I already noted how the gairaigo pronunciation of "Supreme Thunder" sounds more like "Choux Cream Sundae" than how its pronounced in English, but there are many other notable things. Like the fact that Pegasus the character is referred to by the gairaigo word "pegasasu" but in episode 134 they use the word "tenma" (the normal Japanese word for Pegasus) when referring to the mythical creature in general. Furthermore Queen Beryl is referred to in the Japanese version by the gairaigo "Kuin Beriru" but Queen Nehelenia is referred to by the normal Japanese "Jouou Neherenia" and Queen Badiane from the SuperS movie is also referred to as a "Jouou." Queen Beryl, Queen Serenity, and Neo-Queen Serenity are referred to as "Kuin." The "Moon Princess" is referred to as a "Muun Purinsesu" instead of the normal Japanese "tsuki no hime." There may be enough nuance in how gairaigo is used to make it it's own article. Just simply listing the number of gairaigo terms would make a really big article. I would list the katakana, followed by the Romaji and then what it would mean in English. Even the very name of this franchise is an example of gairaigo and it comes from the Sailor Fuku, which is that Japanese schoolgirl uniform designed to resemble a sailor suit. :What is your evidence that Sailor Moon uses loan words more than any other series? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 19:25, 1 April 2021 (EDT)

::Not "more than any other series" but more than many, even those who use gairaigo extensively themselves. Take Dragon Ball for instance. Other than the gairaigo which is common in everyday Japanese speech, Dragon Ball uses a few gairaigo terms such as "Doragon Boru" for the titular Dragon Balls and "Doragon Rēdā" for the device used to find them. Some characters have names based on gairaigo such as Raditz (based on Radish), Vegeta (based on Vegetable). A few technique names are gairaigo such as "Biggu Ban Atakku" (Big Bang Attack), but most attack names are Japanese like Kamehameha, Dodonpa, Roga Fufu Ken, Taiyo Ken, Kikouhou, and Genki Dama. Dragon Ball uses more gairaigo than most, but still not as much as Sailor Moon.

::YuYu Hakusho (made by Naoko Takeuchi's husband Yoshihiro Togashi) mostly only uses the amount of gairaigo common in everyday Japanese speech. the only gairaigo that stands out to me is  Yusuke's "Rei Gan" a pun on "Reiki" and "ray gun."

::I've also watched Tenchi Muyo, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, 2001 Fruits Basket, One Piece (which also has more gairaigo than most), Detective Conan, and a few other series. I've also seen the Super Sentai shows from Zyuranger to Mega Ranger, many Godzilla films, and the 90s Mothra trilogy. Among all of those, the use of gairaigo in SM still stands out.

::In SM, every transformation phrase and every attack name is gairaigo. Every transformed character name (Sailor _____) is gairaigo. Almost all of the villains have gairaigo names. 50.24.16.38 12:05, 2 April 2021 (EDT)

:::So Naoko liked to use English words for a lot of her special attack phrases. You believe that she does it more than other mangaka because you feel that way. How is this significant? Kerochan no Miko (talk) 20:25, 2 April 2021 (EDT)

::::Once again, you belittle my suggestion by acting like I'm the only one who cares about these things. How about a different reason? Okay, I've just been looking for a space to put interesting notes like the fact that Beryl is a "Kuin" while Nehelenia is a "Jouou." Since this is an encyclopedia for Sailor Moon it would grow the informative content of this wiki.  Making notes of things like this plus the fact that "pegasasu" is the proper name for Pegasus the character, but "tenma" is used in episode 134 when taking about Pegasuses in general. These can be informative to people who only watch the English dub (which I am obviously not, so it's not about me) where they just hear "queen" and "Pegasus" for all instances. PLEASE NOTE: I cannot grant permission for new users to create articles or to not encounter captchas. Those are things set up to be automatically handled by the wiki once new users have met certain criteria, a measure made necessary because of issues we've had in the past with an abundance of spammers/bots. I can/will not go around it.

Also, please do not comment on my talk page about specific articles or edits - those discussions should take place on the talk pages for the articles in question. Thank you!

Question about photos[edit]

The Sailor Moon Cosmos movies are now released on DVD and Blue-ray. The castle and planet articles have always looked bland due to their lack of images. Is there any possibility to add pictures to them?
