Umm, I can't think of anything else to add to this page without repeating the information we already have on the sisters' individual articles (which I just noticed are filled with even more info and looking great - wow!). Maybe we could remove the headlines (since there isn't enough info on each section, anyway) and simply let the reader follow links to the individual articles. Any opinions? Also, suggestions for a potential pic? I'd prefer a manga one myself, but the Materials Collection's group pic is a bit too small (and the sisters look way too "watashi wa kawaii desu" in it) so I don't really care if it's from the anime or whatever. Just wondering if I can make a page for the Spectre Sister's cosmetic stand that they put together when they were healed? If not, a mention somewhere on this page would be good. I'll be adding some more DIC info on them soon, but thinking this page might need one of those right-hand info boxes, or I can add it all under "Notes". -[[User:CorzaMoon|CorzaMoon]] ([[User talk:CorzaMoon|talk]]) 04:55, 26 November 2019 (EST)

Another Esoteric name. This should be moved to "Ayakashi Sisters" due to overwhemling popular usage (227/2790 hits) over an unused sub name (43/125 hits). --Kuroyanagi 15:42, 1 October 2006 (MST)

Seconded. I'd never heard anyone use "Phantom Sisters" until this site. Kerochan no Miko 16:23, 1 October 2006 (MST)

I think we could use a picture of all the Sisters together. How about this? - Sikon 05:27, 30 January 2011 (MST)

I'd rather have no image than a poor quality image. Kerochan no Miko 05:30, 30 January 2011 (MST)

Trivia[edit]

in the (Mixx manga) they were referred to as "The Four Sisters of Deception". Source: http://bssm.sailordream.com/information/blueball/FourSisters.php (This unsigned comment was left by Sailorcrystalhealer, 28 September 2011)

Page move?[edit]

Wiki guidelines say that articles should be either the original Japanese name or an official English translation, and this is a mixture of both. The article needs to be moved, but should it go to "Ayakashi no Yon Shimai" (original), "Phantom Sisters" (ADV), or "Spectre Sisters" (Kodansha)? I'm honestly inclined to go for "Phantom Sisters", if anything, but tbqh none of the options are terribly appealing. Kerochan no Miko 20:52, 6 June 2012 (MST)

I'd much rather leave it as it's now, but if that's not an option then I have no suggestions. None of the proposals appeal to me terribly either. Silver 21:18, 6 June 2012 (MST)

I removed the kanji translation because 1) I have never seen "monstrous" as a translation for "ayakashi" and 2) once the article is moved we won't need a translation. Please provide input here for the move if you have an opinion, but otherwise let's just leave it alone until then. Kerochan no Miko 01:02, 8 June 2012 (MST)

1) Yes, there is: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/アヤカシ_(妖怪) 2) No problem w/ that, tho. As for my opinion about the move, while none of those seems to be appealing, the current practice seems to give the priority to the Kodansha translations over other ones, even if they're not the best translations. --210 01:35, 8 June 2012 (MST)
I don't see your point with regard to #1 (why would a specific sea monster have anything to do with the four sisters?) but it doesn't really matter anyway. Kerochan no Miko 08:37, 8 June 2012 (MST)
My point is simply that there's actually a "monster" meaning for "ayakashi" - in fact, I've also seen a translation of it as "Monstrous/Demonic Sisters" in the past myself, but I can no longer show it here, & the best I can find ATM is only that Wiki page. ^^; --210 11:34, 8 June 2012 (MST)
The fact that there is a monster named "ayakashi" does not logically lead to the idea that "Ayakashi" always means "monstrous". I have yet to see an actual dictionary showing that as anything approaching a valid translation, therefore I strongly disagree with your word choice. Kerochan no Miko 12:13, 8 June 2012 (MST)
Apparently the word might've originated from a sea monster, but its meaning has widened since then, as shown in this dictionary entry (see the 2nd definition in particular): http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/leaf/jn2/6850/m0u/ -- 210 02:47, 9 June 2012 (MST)
Again, attempting to argue this has absolutely no point at all. Kerochan no Miko 08:04, 9 June 2012 (MST)
I've already said "no problem w/ that" regarding #2 of your comment above, ; ) so this isn't an argument against that at all - I'm just showing you there's a "monster" meaning of "ayakashi," since you said you hadn't seen that before. XD --210 11:25, 9 June 2012 (MST)
And I still haven't seen it, since that isn't a Japanese-English dictionary, and the English definition is the entire point of this discussion. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous; I'm dropping it. Kerochan no Miko 21:30, 9 June 2012 (MST)
Actually it's just one step short of that, as the words in that Japanese dictionary can be checked on an English one yourself. ; ) Anyway, this' the closest one yet I can find ATM: http://ejje.weblio.jp/content/あやかし - it still doesn't exactly match the Japanese one, tho, but is pretty close. But as you've said you're dropping it, I won't go any further than that now & am letting it close here. ^^; --210 02:11, 10 June 2012 (MST)

Since 210 has apparently just proved my point again, and nobody else has any opinion on the actual page move, I'm just going to go ahead and go with the Kodansha version and get this moved. Kerochan no Miko 08:57, 10 June 2012 (MST)

Yeah, a definition in that dictionary I last linked above has a similar meaning to "spectre," & like I said above the Kodansha translations have the priority here anyway, so it's like the best of both worlds for this case. --210 12:47, 10 June 2012 (MST)
I did have an actual proposal which had nothing to do with your sub-dicussion about the translation of "ayakashi", but I was not at home during the weekend so I could not post it. Doesn't matter anyway, since the article has been moved already, but I thought you were supposed to make a single formal proposal and wait 24 hours before moving the page, instead of simply picking one of several options without noting it on the talk page first. Silver 21:20, 10 June 2012 (MST)
Yes, I should have noted which one I was going to go with. I honestly thought I had and didn't look closely before making the move; that was completely my bad. But since nobody gave an opinion in the four days it was waiting.... Kerochan no Miko 22:24, 10 June 2012 (MST)
I know it mightn't matter now, but I'm curious about your proposal. ^^ BTW, get a mobile device that can surf the net - some are pretty cheap nowadays. ; ) --210 01:40, 11 June 2012 (MST)
