Because this is apparently turning into an edit war, reasons I have reverted the changes. 1) We use American spellings here, not British, as noted in the style guidelines, so "favorite" ''is correct'' and should not be changed. 2) Makoto did attend Moto Azabu with Asanuma, so her uniform ''could have been'' the uniform from that school, but since that was never stated explicitly in canon (that I'm aware of) it's speculation and speculation does not belong in articles, again, see the style guidelines. The consensus in the discussion on the Community Portal seems to be no links in articles except references; as such, does anyone object if I remove these links? Kerochan no Miko 22:49, 5 October 2006 (MST)

*In court* No objection. --210 03:22, 6 October 2006 (MST)

Makoto's sempai[edit]

Hallo! We over at WP are wondering, where in the series does the phrase "shitsurenshita sempai" appear? And is anything ever revealed specifically about Makoto's relationship (or lack thereof) with him, or who he was? Thanks! --Masamage 01:39, 6 December 2006 (MST)

He's described in this entry. The relationship was specified in the NA dub, not in the original; he broke her heart in that flashback, but we never heard what he said - could have been "This will never work, my love" as well as "Dammit, stop following me!". ^_^ She mentioned him for the first time in episode 25. --Rosen 01:59, 6 December 2006 (MST)

I'm neutral regarding "senpai" & "sempai", but since the article dedicated to him uses the latter, it should also be used here for consistency. --210 20:50, 23 January 2007 (MST)

In episode 55, she says that he dumped her, which implies that they had been in a relationship. However, this is just going by the subtitles so it could be a translation error. Does anyone know? Nephrite 13:10, 28 February 2008 (MST)

Makoto's Age.[edit]

Who is the youngest Inner Senshi?

Are they born in the same year?

Rei - April 13th

Usagi - June 30th

Ami - September 10th

Minako - October 22nd

Makoto - December 5th

Has there been information on who was born first? If Rei is the eldest then Makoto its likely Makoto is still 15 at the end of the series... which makes that trivia note wrong...

Minakoaino

You never know the exact timing of the show, which doesn't synchronize w/ the time in reality. What we know is that in Stars she'd entered the 1st year of high school, which's normally enrolled by students of 15-16 y.o. --210 06:43, 16 December 2010 (MST)
As far as I'm aware, certain personal details about the senshi seem to vary or are at least difficult to determine due to some discrepancies between the mangas, original animes, and dubs. I remember someone used to have a page up on the Internet somewhere with some very good details and research on this subject and if it still exists (and I can find it), I'll try to reference some of that material here. Mmm... it really depends on whether Rei, Makoto or Usagi is the youngest. =\ We'll probably never know for sure unless Takeuchisensei opens up another question box on her website. Cartwheelingfiesta 20:58, 2 August 2011 (MST)
If the girls' school district had a kindergarten policy, where you have to turn 5 [years old] by December 2 of your kindergarten year (i.e. The girls enter school in 1983, so they have to had turned 5 by December 2, 1978), then Lita would be 1977. Hence, Minako is the youngest, since she and Ami turned 5 before the mentioned date (December 2, 1983). Did I go too analytical?GravityFalls (talk) 08:01, 30 July 2015 (MST)
That's still speculation and still not something that can go in an article. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 15:44, 30 July 2015 (MST)

Family[edit]

While the Nakayoshi albums list Mako's family situation as "Unknown (lives alone)", her official fan book flat-out states that her parents died in a plane crash long ago. Considering that the fan books use anime-specific information (they're actually mostly made from annotated anime screencaps), I think it's safe to say that the fact that her parents are dead does apply to the anime, even if the anime itself doesn't state it explicitly. Any thoughts? --YnK 01:06, 8 April 2012 (MST)

Just add those info into the article. ; ) --210 05:31, 8 April 2012 (MST)

Makoto's earrings: pink roses or sasanqua camellias?[edit]

I recently learned that Makoto's favourite flower are not roses as I thought: according to the manga (act 31, Mugen 5) she says her favourite flower is sasanko which I think it's another way of saying sasanqua. I googled this and this is a type of camellia, the camellia sasanqua which is actually very similar to a rose. The 2012 manga edition, english version, confirms that clearly: Makoto says her favourite flower is sasanqua camellia. This seems relatively consensual.

My point is: are her earrings really pink roses or in fact are they camellia sasanqua? More: Her favourite tea flavour seems rose tea, the same 2012 manga edition says that. But is it really rose tea or sasanka camellia tea? It seems camellias are pretty popular and traditional in Japan, specially sasanqua's. As it is said in wikipedia:

«Camellia sasanqua, with common name sasanqua camellia, is a species of Camellia native to China and Japan [...]. In Japan, it is not considered to be a true Camellia as the Japanese call it Sazanka (サザンカ, 山茶花) [...] It has a long history of cultivation in Japan for practical rather than decorative reasons. The leaves are used to make tea [...]»

If my thoughts are true, did this happened by translations errors (then and now) or was this a way to make things easier for the western world public? How accurate are english translations? Does anyone knows a bit japanese to see the originals?Thoughts, anyone? --Templarius 01 (talk) 14:48, 9 November 2017 (MST)

Yes, she says her favorite flower is the Sazanka, as noted in the article this talk page is connected to. However, her earrings are roses. They look nothing like a sasanqua camellia. It is possible to like rose tea and camellias at the same time. Kerochan no Miko (talk) 19:51, 9 November 2017 (MST)
