I guess we gotta tackle this Oo-O issue once & for all? 210 00:25, 31 August 2006 (MST)

It does seem that we need a policy. Pending agreement of the other admins, this is my suggestion: if an official site exists, and it has a romanisation, use that. If not, google all forms of the name and use the most common one. dooky 02:10, 31 August 2006 (MST)
Michie, do you have any input on the matter? dooky 17:01, 31 August 2006 (MST)
I think the admins should arbitrate on this matter now to avoid any possible edit wars. 210 17:04, 31 August 2006 (MST)
I think we should go with "OH", as that is what the official pages for the Chibimoon actresses use. Eternal Legend uses "OO", but either is technically correct. Michie 17:05, 31 August 2006 (MST)
Well, I'm the only admin around, so here's my cast-iron declaration (subject to the agreement of other admins, but being enforced for the time being). If the actor's official page has a romanisation, use that. If not, Google all forms of the name and use the most common romanisation. dooky 17:11, 31 August 2006 (MST)
Are we taking into consideration official Myu merchandise? I just went and checked a bunch of scans, and most have romanizations, although the actresses sites don't. Should I just Google it anyways, or use what was given in the program books?Michie 17:17, 31 August 2006 (MST)
I'd be wary of using merchandise since individual actors probably don't have control over things like romanisation of their names on such things. It's more likely that the company has a policy on how they romanise things, and always romanise a long 'o' as o or oo or oh. In truth, of course, all of these methods are quite correct depending on your preference/system. dooky 17:31, 31 August 2006 (MST)

^ I'm a myu layperson, but I think the program books could be considered since they're printed for all myu performances, aren't they? 210 17:41, 31 August 2006 (MST)

Yes, but the actors appear in many other things too, and teh program books may only reflect one company's view of how their name should be romanised. I'd really have to look at a few of them and see how consistent the romanisation is. If there's variety, then that would make them potential sources. dooky 18:11, 31 August 2006 (MST)
I have a few scans of my own, if you'd like to see them. Othewise I can direct you to sites that have them. Michie 09:29, 1 September 2006 (MST)

I did manage to look up the official sites of a few of the Chibimoon actresses. It is officially Nanami Ohta and Mao Ohno, but it only lists おおさき もえ for Moe Oosaki. I think a better romanization of that would be either OO or OH, since there is obviously more than one O sound - what do you all think? Michie 09:29, 1 September 2006 (MST)

Google shows that Oosaki is the most popular rendering of the actress' name, so use that. dooky 10:25, 1 September 2006 (MST)

Why not Chibiusa Tsukino?

I can understand that her full name is not Chibiusa Tsukino by Princess Small Lady.... whatever. But, while in the 20th Century doesn't she call herself Chibiusa Tsukino? I am just wondering why this article isn't at Chibiusa Tsukino instead. --GracieLizzie 14:24, 5 September 2006 (MST)

I can only speak for the anime here, but she's either 'Chibiusa' or 'Usagi Tsukino'. 'Chibiusa Tsukino' is never used, because Chibiusa is really only a nickname. dooky 14:32, 5 September 2006 (MST)
That's odd, I felt almost sure I could remember hearing her introducing herself as "Tsukino Chibiusa" once. I must have inserted the Tsukino mentally. GracieLizzie 15:03, 5 September 2006 (MST)
Nah, It's definately the nickname Chibiusa (to tell her apart from her mother), or her full name Usagi Tsukino. Chibiusa is a shortened version of "Small Usagi". DoddyUK 16:12, 5 September 2006 (MST)
Same here. The 2 have identical full names as I recall it. 210 17:21, 5 September 2006 (MST)
I know it's a nickname, I just thought that she'd been introduced that way. GracieLizzie 03:55, 6 September 2006 (MST)
Western naming conventions would refer to her as "Usagi Tsukino Jr." or "Usagi Tsukino II". -- DENelson83 15:18, 6 September 2006 (MST)
Kinda OT but isn't "Jr." mainly only use for men who share their names with their fathers? --GracieLizzie 15:22, 6 September 2006 (MST)
I've personally never seen "jr" used for females named after their mothers. This is a fairly patriarchal society when it comes to names, after all. (They've used II for monarchs in England, so I could see that.) Kerochan no Miko 15:26, 6 September 2006 (MST)
Is "Chibiusa" supposed to be linked under the "alias" heading for the other articles about her various incarnations? The Princess Lady Serenity page didn't have Chibiusa under the alias heading and I added that in. There's another article somewhere without the Chibiusa link but I didn't edit that one. I think the name should be added in though. -- Secretss 16:29, 26 April 2007 (MST)
Agreed. Feel free to add it when you come across w/ such articles. --210 17:50, 26 April 2007 (MST)

Princess Tsukino Usagi Small Lady Serenity

I'm not sure where this name came from. I've heard of Princess Lady Serenity, but not this long version. They're almost similar. -- Secretss 20:02, 25 April 2007 (MST)

Ken Arromdee's old FAQ states the following: "Her real name is also Usagi. (According to the manga it's "Usagi Small-Lady Serenity". Uh, right. The video game Another Story calls her "Lady Serenity".)" Anyone having a better source to check than the Tokyo Pop version? --Rosen 05:56, 30 April 2007 (MST)
This name seems to be a product of fandom (I think Suburban Senshi gives her full name as something close to this). Anyway, it's not canon, so I'll remove it. Thanks for spotting it. dooky 01:33, 30 April 2007 (MST)
I thought Usagi Small Lady Serenity was an official name from the manga series. -Jeanine
It is, but if this project did citations... then I would add in references for all the stuff stated. *cough* I can state each place where things are stated, this is not fanon, but manga canon. --Hitsuji Kinno 11:24, 4 July 2007 (MST)

Chibiusa's popularity

Let's deal with this before it turns into an edit war over something so silly. Our anonymous editor does have a point: there is certainly a vocal section of Western fandom that dislikes Chibiusa. But it's a difficult thing to quantify. How many fans hate her? I wouldn't say it was most fans. In fact, I'd hesitate before saying she was the least popular Senshi overall. The trouble is that, to my knowledge, there aren't any official polls showing this. And I would say this regarding the comment on her Japanese popularity too: If it can't be proven, then it should be removed, or at least toned down. To be honest, the glut of Chibiusa hate shrines that existed five or so years ago probably is notable in some way; we just need to find a way of wording it that isn't potentially misleading. - dooky 01:40, 30 April 2007 (MST)

I've tried rewording it - how's it now? --210 04:36, 30 April 2007 (MST)
I believe there were popularity polls shown in the manga, at least in the cantonese version. I don't have my copies handy but those could be considered official polls if they are in fact japanese numbers. - Jeanine
I seem to recall polls showing popularity polls as well, but I can't recall where. I'll look into it. Kerochan no Miko 18:53, 30 April 2007 (MST)
I have absolutely no reference but I believe the all-character images from the artbooks were used for the popularity polls. The poll for the first arc as in the...third volume. It's been a long time since I've seen them.
But Chibiusa wasn't in the 1st arc - were there any more polls after that one? --210 20:34, 30 April 2007 (MST)
Yes, at least for the 2nd arc. I might have had one for the 3rd arc. - Jeanine
It could be a good reference for that trivia note, then. --210 19:16, 1 May 2007 (MST)
I see no point at all in that comment on her popularity. What purpose does it serve except to mess with new fans's opinions of Chibiusa? First impressions do matter to a lot of people even though they deny being superficial. Even small offhand comments like "notable dislike of the character" can subconsciously sway people's impression of Chibiusa when they first see her. For young, impressionable fans, they may get the notion that she was a character designed to be a common target for dislike (especially since there are a number of "hate sites" dedicated to Chibiusa on the net) and may start to unconsciously pick out all her annoying traits and enlarge them in their minds, thus overshadowing her nicer, more endearing characteristics. I hate Chibiusa, I don't deny that, but my opinion is personal and myopic, while that comment isn't. I disagree with placing that comment in a medium accessible by all. If Chibiusa existed, it would be slander. I say remove that completely and let fans/viewers decide for themselves whether they want to hate her or love her. --Secretss 12:05, 1 May 2007 (MST)
The point of this project is to document the series, including the fandom. I think that fans' opinions of a character are extremely relevant to that. This is academic, not a fanshrine. Kerochan no Miko 13:16, 1 May 2007 (MST)
As Kerochan said. And I'd like to add that, strictly speaking, that trivia note isn't a "comment" at all, & certainly not a personal one. It's also not aimed at influencing fans' opinion about Chibiusa. Actually that note also mentions her popularity in Japan as well as her negative impression seen w/i the fandom in the West. And just a fun note: for a Western fan who also loves everything from Japan, s/he might even be "influenced" by it to like Chibiusa (yeah, that's not the point - just for fun lol). --210 18:10, 1 May 2007 (MST)

Helios

Come on he gets a meesily sentence! He's her main love interest in the manga and anime (I don't consider Perle's kiss much compared to her season long love with Helios) Come on Perle gets a longer description and his movie was much much much shorter than any of Helios's appearances.

If you feel that the articles need information, then add it instead of just complaining. Kerochan no Miko 15:48, 22 September 2007 (MST)

Death of the Sailor Senshi

Out of the Solar System Senshi, Chibiusa was the only one never to have died in the anime. The other nine senshi, including Tuxedo Mask died twice during the series.

I uploaded this trivia note and am 90% sure it is correct, could someone correct me if one of the senshi died more than twice?

Sailor Moon - the end of the first season and in the R Movie. Sailor Mercury/Mars/Jupiter/Venus - the first season and in Sailor Stars. Sailor Uranus/Neptune - When Eudial took the talismans/End of Sailor Stars Sailor Pluto/Saturn - End of S, End of Stars Tuxedo Kamen - End of first season and the beginning of Stars. (This unsigned comment was left by Minakoaino, November 5, 2010)

Since Chibiusa "disappeared" in Stars I'd count that as dying. Or close enough to render the trivia note invalid. Kerochan no Miko 20:06, 5 November 2010 (MST)

Hmm... i see what you mean... thats an awkward one o_O

Does it count as dying if you cease to exist?

If that is the case, then she died the least of all of them Minakoaino 20:07, 5 November 2010 (MST)

Except that she vanished in both SuperS and Stars. So twice. Kerochan no Miko 20:11, 5 November 2010 (MST)
Oh? I don't remember that o_O for some reason... which episode? Minakoaino 20:16, 5 November 2010 (MST)
They didn't outright show her vanishing, but she disappeared from the photo on Usagi's desk and then reappeared with the others at the end. Kerochan no Miko 20:47, 5 November 2010 (MST)
Was that with Fisheye? i wouldn't really count that "Dying" in any sense, just her being held hostage... o_O Minakoaino 20:50, 5 November 2010 (MST)
I was talking about Stars... you're the one who brought up SuperS, so now I'm confused. Kerochan no Miko 21:06, 5 November 2010 (MST)
o_o im confused now. What did you mean by "She vanished in both SuperS and Stars" i understand Stars... but I'm trying to work out where she "disappeared" in SuperS.... OH! I see...I don't think "disappearing symbolically from a photograph" is the same as "dying or no longer existing" (This unsigned comment was left by Minakoaino, November 5, 2010)
...I have no idea what we're talking about at this point.
The fact that she disappeared from the photograph in Stars meant that she no longer existed at that point. And then she reappeared at the end, when everyone whose Star Seed had been taken reappeared, which she wouldn't have done if she hadn't died/disappeared/whatever. Kerochan no Miko 22:08, 5 November 2010 (MST)
oh no no... i think you've understand me, i agree you could count she died in Sailor Stars. But when did she "die" in SuperS? thats what ive been asking you.... o_O (This unsigned comment was left by Minakoaino, November 6, 2010)
You said that she'd died in SuperS in your trivia note. Kerochan no Miko 08:47, 6 November 2010 (MST)
I did o_o wow im stupid XD hahaha... well then I wasn't thinking. I meant to say she only died once, everyone else died twice? Do you agree with that ^_^

Regarding the removed comment about Mamoru's fear of shots

Just wanted to clarify where it comes from (in case somebody adds it again). There's a conversation between Mamoru and Ami during the third anime season (I think in episode 97), where Mamoru says something to the effect that he wouldn't mind having shots if there was a doctor as cute as Ami; Ami then asks if he hates shots, and Mamoru confirms that. But apart from that anime scene, I don't remember this being mentioned anywhere. Not sure whether it's worth mentioning here (maybe on Mamoru's page?). --YnK 10:29, 6 March 2011 (MST)

I think most sane people hate shots, tbh, so saying that you dislike shots isn't really all that notable. Now, if he'd said that he had a particular phobia of shots or showed that somehow (like Chibiusa's utter terror at the sight of Pharmakon or whatever) then I could see a mention, but really... I'm not sure about it. Kerochan no Miko 12:57, 6 March 2011 (MST)
Love that logic X3 heh heh eh now i really want to put in "Chibiusa dislikes needles, like her father, thus they are both sane" Personally though Derella is the scariest of all the monsters ^.^ Cartwheelingfiesta 23:10, 6 March 2011 (MST)

Electra complex?..

I think that note is oversimplifyed. Think about it: if she really had Electra complex, she would want King Endymion for herself (since he is her actual father), not just Mamoru. I don't remember that (with her mother sleeping, she would have a great chance to have Endymion's attention directed towards her, but she is too upset by losing her mother to use it). As for her relationship with Mamoru, there's a catch: when she arrives into 20th century, she has no idea that Mamoru and Usagi are her future parents. I'd say it was natural that she liked Mamoru because her personality at that point is merely a copy of Usagi's. Including love preferences, apparently. And even after that she doesn't completely identify Usagi and Mamoru with her parents. She does notice Mamoru's similarity to Endymion to an extent, but mostly because he is much closer to King Endymion than Usagi to Neo-Queen Serenity, and because he spends a lot of time with her - that's the kind of treatment she would want while being alone and far from home. I'd say it's a bit more complicated than the definition of Electra Complex, really...

Chibiusa's age

The age of Chibiusa of Sailor_Moon in the manga should be mentioned in her article. I found a source that talks about her different ages in manga: Chibiusa goes through several different designs in the manga as she grows up, but she's almost always wearing some school uniform or another. She's also unusually short for her age, a point that you notice when she hangs around with anyone from her class. When Chibiusa first shows up she's in fourth grade at Juuban Elementary. During the Death Buster's arc she's elected class president of the fifth grade, and at the beginning of the Galaxia arc she and Hotaru are both in sixth grade (classes 1 and 3, respectively). Chibiusa's age in the manga

The Materials_Collection says Chibiusa has an apperance of a first grader. Here's a source: http://www.kurozuki.com/takeuchi/sailormoon/settei.html I thought that should be mentioned. Sailor sunshine 12:00, 19 May 2011 (MST)
