Super Moonies was a German pop band which rode on the popularity of the Sailor Moon anime in Germany. They are best known for providing two opening themes for the German dub of the anime, but made numerous other Sailor Moon-themed songs during their career. The band's biggest commercial success, the album Sailor Moons Welt, peaked at number 5 in the German charts and stayed in the national Top 100 for 13 weeks. They also played live concerts and toured as an opening act for other artists, such as the American pop singer Aaron Carter.

Super Moonies consisted of the singer Kisu (stage name for Bianca Hanif) and two dancers, Sailor Moon (Gabriela Gottschalk) and Tuxedo Mask (Jascha Anantaponge). When performing live and posing for photos, the latter two would cosplay as their stage name aliases. Kisu's clothing varied but she usually appeared in a silver and black sailor fuku.

Discography

  • Sailor Moons Welt (1998)
  • Kämpfe Sailor Moon (single, 1998)
  • Sailor Moons Wintertraum (1999)
  • Die Macht des Mondes (1999)
  • Silver Millennium – Best of Super Moonies (2000)

In addition to these, the Super Moonies were often featured in the "Sailor Moon - Superhits für Kids" albums (a series of about a dozen CDs). They were mainly pop compilations where most tracks were unrelated to Sailor Moon, but many included a few original Japanese songs from the anime, and new songs by the Super Moonies. The band was not featured in all of them, however.
