Eien Densetsu was the 1997 Summer Special Musical. It took the main plot of the Sailor Stars arc and added a twist, in which Sailor Galaxia revived Queen Beryl to help do her dirty work. This was also the first musical appearance of Chibi Chibi and Princess Kakyuu.

This was first musical of Akari Tonegawa, Akiko Miyazawa, Tamami Matsumoto, Mika Komura and Mari Yasuda, the final musical of Toni Hosokawa, and the only musical of Megumi Wakamatsu, Akira Tomemori, and Hidetaka Asano. For this musical only, Chihiro Imai replaced Keiko Takeda as Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn.

The musical was released on VHS and DVD, and is also available in the Special Musical Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Memorial DVD Box Anza Ooyama Moon Vol. 2. The soundtrack CD for this musical was Memorial Album of the Musical 5 - Eien Densetsu.

Plot

Stage 1

Sailor Mitis Kerokko, Sailor Tin Nyanko, Sailor Phi, Sailor Chi and Sailor Theta dance in the shadows before exiting, followed by a quick confrontation between Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Galaxia. Tuxedo Mask is quickly knocked aside, leaving Galaxia alone to begin a ritual to revive an unnamed evil being as two men in uniforms stand behind her.

A prince and a princess fight three dark figures, the Black Knights, amidst a larger battle. The prince drives the knights away, but is wounded. He urges the princess to leave him, but the princess tells him that she can endure losing everything as long as they are together. Their romantic moment is cut short as the knights come back and prepare to kill them. However, a team of four female knights, the Holy Warriors of Orleans, appear to save the day ("Orleans no Sei Senshi"). After the knights are defeated, a director calls a cut and the whole thing is reavealed to be just a rehearsal for a special drama to be broadcast on Ginga TV during summer break. The Black Knights are being played by the famous new idol group, the Three Lights, the prince and princess roles by Haruka and Michiru, and the Holy Warriors by Usagi, Minako, Makoto, and Ami.

The girls rejoice as the director tells them that they got the parts. Rei and two girls from another school arrive and complain that it is unfair that Juuban Municipal High School gets to use the Three Lights; as students at other schools, they do not get the chance to participate in the drama, and are upset because of it. Rei is particularly disappointed as she is the only one of her friends to be left out. The director then agrees to give her a role and they start filming the next scene, in which the prince and princess have one last heroic moment. Three of the Holy Warriors lie dead on the floor, with Usagi's character witnessing the scene as the prince and princess give their last goodbyes. As the princess dies, the prince tries to grab her hand one last time, but is unable to reach it before collapsing. Usagi looks shaken at this vision of her friends. In the shadows the director, who is in truth Kyaosu, watches them and laughs, observing that they have yet to experience real darkness. The two girls from the other school, revealed to be the disguised Sailor Mitis Kerokko and Sailor Tin Nyanko, scowl at him and tell him to get on with his job and make them dinner. He apologizes but makes one last ominous comment before laughing and disappearing into the darkness.

Sailor Galaxia finishes her ritual to awaken the one she calls the "Queen of Hatred." The queen’s voice asks who has awakened her from her deep slumber, and Galaxia requests that the queen return in order to fill the Galaxy with her hatred and dark appetite once more. The voice seems interested, and Sailor Galaxia uses her sword to break the queen free from her prison.

In a flashback, a young girl struggles through a blizzard before finally collapsing, overcome by the cold. She takes out her last match, saying that until the match dies out, she wants to be left alone to dream. The voice of the queen replies that she cannot grant that wish; she says the girl must have realized by now that the world is too polluted and filthy. The girl refuses to believe this, but the queen reminds her that she only has this single match to keep her warm and that when it goes out she will die alone. The girl insists that she doesn't care, and though the queen insists that there are no dreams left on this planet, she lights the match, saying that there is still the fire of hope. Even as she watches the small flame of the match burn low, she repeats that she believes in dreams, and only a few moments later the flame goes out and she collapses. The queen observes that the girl who dreamed of a beautiful future only became a frozen corpse, and all that remained was a coffin of darkness. She curses the rotten Earth, and the rebirth of the Queen of Darkness, Queen Beryl, truly begins ("Yami no Hitsugi").

Zoisite and Kunzite welcome her return and present Prince Endymion to her. The prince demands to know what is going on. Beryl attacks him and asks if he will choose her passion or her vengeance. Endymion says that she hasn’t changed, which infuriates her; she accuses him of having abandoned her in the past and says he will still forsake her today. She launches a series of relentless attacks against him, but the Shitennou stop her and ask that she reserve her hatred for Usagi. Queen Beryl relents and tells them that now that the Dark Kingdom has been restored, they will settle their grudges against the Sailor Senshi. The Shitennou tell her they have a plan set in motion, and she tells them to proceed one by one with the girls.

Back at the school, Usagi, Haruka, Makoto, Minako, and Rei are in the gymnasium playing a basketball game against five girls from another school, who are truly Sailor Animamates in disguise, while the other girls and Chibi Chibi look on. Usagi’s team wins the game, but a teacher appears and yells at them for not going home as they had been told to do. One of the girls asks him if he found out who the culprit was, but he says he hasn’t. The girl explains that the day before, students who had stayed late after school were attacked by an unknown individual, and now she is frightened. The teacher tells them to report any suspicious people to him and sends them all home. Everyone leaves except for Ami, who makes the acquaintance of Saitou Izou, a handsome senior and member of the basketball team. He begins to flirt with her, and though Ami is shy at first, she seems easily taken in by his charms ("Itsuwari no Forevermore"). While they sing, the other girls come back and enjoy the romantic scene.

Just before they kiss, another basketball player makes his entrance and interrupts. He introduces himself as Saitou Izou’s cousin, Saitou Kun, and although Minako is visibly attracted to the newcomer, he barely notices her. Saitou Izou then invites them to a karaoke party organized by the basketball team. However, just as the girls rejoice, they hear a cry of pain. One of the girls from the other school has been attacked, and the group sees a miko running away from the scene. Rei arrives shortly afterward and asks if they heard the scream. The teacher and the two boys immediately accuse her, and the girls explain the circumstantial evidence to Rei. She cannot believe that her friends would even suspect her of being the culprit and runs away. Haruka and Michiru go on their own investigation while Usagi, Makoto, Ami, Hotaru, Chibi Chibi, and Setsuna start looking for the real culprit ("Kick Out a Bloody Mystery"), and are soon joined by Saitou Izou and Saitou Kun. Rei continues to pursue the other miko, while Haruka and Michiru run into the Three Lights as they also play detectives. Another girl from the other school is attacked and the girls see the false miko; thinking it might be Rei after all, they start running after her.

The teacher, who is really just another one of Kyaosu's disguises, reunites with Sailor Theta, Sailor Phi (the fake miko), Sailor Mitis Kerokko, and Sailor Tin Nyanko, and they explain their plan to frame Rei in order to create conflict between the Sailor Senshi. However, as they start making fun of the Sailor Senshi and mocking Rei in particular, Sailor Mars appears and attacks Sailor Phi and Sailor Theta, forcing them to retreat. The teacher tries to fake his innocence and says he was forced to help the villains. Sailor Mars doesn’t believe him, but is knocked down by Sailor Mitis Kerokko and Sailor Tin Nyanko. The girls arrive and find Rei unconscious, but before they can transform, Sailor Mitis Kerokko attacks them. Before the Sailor Animamates can attack again, the Sailor Starlights appear; Sailor Star Fighter attacks and forces them to retreat. Sailor Star Maker and Sailor Star Healer remark that, as always, the Sailor Senshi can’t do a thing on their own. Haruka retorts that they only let them handle the trash.

Setsuna calms both parties and reminds them that the important thing is to find out who these enemies were. Saitou Kun answers that they were probably Rei’s friends and Saitou Izou declares that the miko robes Sailor Phi left behind are the proof that she is guilty. Rei wakes up and the teacher immediately brings her to the police. The girls cannot believe that Rei is truly the culprit, but the boys convince them that no good will come out of staying at the school any longer. Minako, Makoto, and Ami all agree to go home, but Usagi asks that they go without her because she wants to be alone. Sailor Star Fighter tries to talk to her, but Sailor Star Healer says they have no time to waste with them and Sailor Star Maker observes that betrayal is a common thing in the universe, even among friends. The latter two Starlights depart, but Sailor Star Fighter encourages Usagi one last time before following them.

Usagi is deeply affected by the whole situation, even though Hotaru is convinced that it is all a trap and is determine to find the truth. Setsuna tries to discourage her, as she fears she might push herself too hard. Hotaru replies that even though she still cannot transform yet, she is still a Sailor Senshi, and runs off. Haruka and Michiru go after her. Usagi envies the couple because she doesn’t know what to think anymore and misses Mamoru terribly. She doesn’t understand why he hasn’t called or written to her since he left, and she just doesn’t know what to do anymore. Setsuna tells her to believe in him no matter what, that no matter how hard it is she must have faith that Mamoru is watching over her and smiling, and all she needs is to keep a strong memory of him in her heart. Setsuna adds that in Usagi's place she would be able to tolerate anything just for that, because love is something that can be waited for in quiet faith. Usagi is touched, but visibly surprised by Setsuna’s words. Before she can say anything, though, Usagi, Setsuna and Chibi Chibi are surprised by an ominous voice that speaks of the darkness inside the hearts of men. They turn around and are faced with Queen Beryl, who uses her powers to plunge them into darkness, separating them and altering the flow of space-time. The Garnet Rod appears and Setsuna realizes that she must go back to her post as the Space-Time Door has been opened.

In Shadow Galactica, Sailor Galaxia and her minions sing about their ambition of collecting all the Sailor Crystals in the Galaxy ("Galaxia Gorgeous"). Galaxia reveals that Queen Beryl’s revival was merely a device to force the awakening of Sailor Saturn, as she cannot let any true Star Seed escape her grasp. Somewhere else Hotaru prays for the power to awaken in order to fight. Galaxia gladly answers Hotaru's prayers by attacking, but her power is stopped by a powerful light which she and her minions quickly realize to be Princess Kakyuu. Galaxia orders her troops to destroy Kakyuu for good as soon as possible, because as long as Kakyuu remains, Galaxia cannot control the entire universe, no matter how many Star Seeds she collects.

The Three Lights sing at a rehearsal ("Chasin' After You"), and after the song, the director congratulates them on their work. Once alone Taiki and Yaten talk of how they are losing hope of ever reaching the person they are searching for, but Seiya says they must have faith and keep singing for her. Seiya decides to go back to school to be by Usagi’s side, even though Yaten tries to discourage him. Taiki remarks that their leader is as reliable as ever. Yaten and Taiki are then surprised by the arrival of Rei, who is pursued by the teacher, who still accuses her of being the criminal. Rei declares that the teacher is a fraud, but he says she’s just lying again. Taiki, however, notices that the teacher and their director look very much alike. Realizing his charade has been discovered, the teacher says the director is his twin brother. The group calls for the director to come back out, and Kyaosu attempts to switch back and forth between his two personas until he cracks under the pressure and begs for mercy. They wait for him to give them the whole truth, but he’s too afraid to reveal anything. The Sailor Animamates arrive and save him the trouble by giving one of their human disguises to Taiki, allowing him to realize that both the director/teacher and his students were impostors. A battle then ensues; Kyaosu runs away with Rei on his tail, and Taiki and Yaten are grabbed from behind by Sailor Phi, Sailor Chi, and Sailor Theta while the Animamates prepare to attack.

Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune arrive just in time and force the Animamates to fall back. Taiki and Yaten thank the Sailor Senshi for returning their earlier favor. Kyaosu returns only to find himself cornered. He decides to run away, but Rei also corners him and brings him back. Yaten, Taiki, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Neptune declare that she may do as she pleases with him. Kyaosu begs the people in the audience who believe she should let him go to clap their hands, but Rei demands that those who believe he is absolutely unforgivable clap as well. Unfortunately for Kyaosu, the audience agrees with Rei, whereupon she cracks her knuckles and sets to work.

On top of the school roof, Usagi sings about her loneliness and longing for Mamoru, while Seiya joins her and sings of his desire to be by her side, protecting her ("I Miss You"). Seiya ask why she is there all by herself, and she replies that she is worried something horrible is coming. They are interrupted by Ami, Saitou Izou, and Saitou Kun; the latter says he’s glad that the criminal was arrested, but Ami reminds him that nothing was proven. Yaten and Taiki arrive and reveal that the real culprit, the teacher/director has been apprehended. Usagi and Ami rejoice and everybody agrees to go get the truth out of him downtown, leaving Ami and Saitou Izou on their date. This is a ruse, however, as Kyaosu has previously admitted that both boys are working with the enemies. In order to trick them, while Saitou Izou has his back turned and starts to reveal his true identity to his past love, Yaten replaces Ami with a disguised Kyaosu. When Izou turns around and discovers with great shock and confusion who he was actually confessing to, Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Neptune make their entrance. Yaten and Taiki also arrive and push Saitou Kun to the ground. Sailor Mars orders them to expose their true identities. Saitou Izou reveals himself as Zoisite and Saitou Kun as Kunzite, their enemies from the Dark Kingdom.

A fight ensues and the Senshi are knocked down by the Shitennou after dealing with three of their minions. However, they are saved by the arrival of Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury, who happily attacks the man who played with her heart. She is knocked away by Queen Beryl. Sailor Moon demands to know who she is, and the queen presents herself before attacking the Senshi. Sailor Star Fighter steps in the way to protect Sailor Moon, and Sailor Star Healer and Sailor Star Maker move to protect Sailor Star Fighter. The group seems in great peril but Queen Beryl’s attack is blocked by Sailor Pluto and the newly awakened Sailor Saturn, who uses her powers to render the queen and her followers unconscious ("To a Brand-New World"). Sailor Galaxia appears and sends the members of the Dark Kingdom back to the base. The Sailor Starlights recognize the one who destroyed their home world, and thus the Senshi learn the identity of their new enemy. They face off against her, but Galaxia quickly overpowers everyone and prepares to take their Star Seeds until she is interrupted by the arrival of Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon. She tells everyone not to lose hope, and Sailor Galaxia is forced to retreat as Princess Kakyuu finally reveals herself to her loyal Starlights, who are moved to tears at her return ("Toki Michite Kourin"). The princess joins forces with Sailor Moon, who welcomes her.

Stage 2

In Shadow Galactica, the Shitennou and Endymion sing about the gracefulness of their queen and she rejoices at having finally found an appropriate husband in Endymion, while in Galaxia’s throne room, she and her followers mock the foolishness of the others, who are merely puppets in their plan. The two groups rejoin and rejoice at the defeat of their mutual enemies ("Tenkuu no Utage"). Kunzite asks Sailor Galaxia if she will really keep her promise to let the Dark Kingdom have the Earth. The Animamates assure them that they would gladly give them a planet like this, but remind them that their plan was a failure; Kunzite points out that their repeated attacks also failed. Kyaosu explains that in short both sides failed, but they angrily remind him that he was the one to blame for that. Galaxia warns all of them that she will not be as forgiving of failure next time before she sends them off. She then asks Queen Beryl about her secret weapon, Endymion; Beryl reveals he has become her personal puppet and that she plans to use him against Usagi. Sailor Galaxia says the most important thing is to get rid of Princess Kakyuu before dealing with Sailor Moon and her allies, and she sends Beryl to complete this task.

Princess Kakyuu, now reunited with her allies, explains to them that she has been in search of the Light of Hope and that they must now protect Sailor Moon. Seiya eagerly agrees and says he’ll defend this planet with his life. Yaten and especially Taiki disagree and say that they must return to Kinmoku. Kakyuu asks that they believe in her once more and unite their heart with the Silver Crystal ("Kakyuu-ouhi to Three Lights"). Usagi arrives with Chibi Chibi and congratulates Seiya and the others for having finally found their princess, but she says they should return to their home planet. Seiya protests that the Earth will be destroyed, but Usagi refuses to believe that. Princess Kakyuu insists that Usagi is the only one who can save the galaxy, as she is the princess who holds the Silver Crystal. The Three lights are shocked to learn this, but Chibi Chibi tells them that they must believe even if it is difficult. Kakyuu then thanks her, for it was her light that guided her to Earth. Usagi uses this moment to ask Chibi Chibi just who she is, but they are interrupted by a television broadcast of Galaxia’s threat to humanity; her announcement is followed by Queen Beryl, who says she will give Endymion back to the Sailor Senshi if they eliminate Princess Kakyuu. Princess Kakyuu says she will go to meet the enemy, despite Taiki's protests, because she cannot let this planet or the Light of Hope disappear.

As the rain pours down, the girls look upon the destruction of their city, and resolve to fight no matter the scale of their enemy. Haruka and Michiru separate from the group, and Sailor Moon appears to them and assures that they will protect the city so dear to them. Kyaosu suddenly appears and reveals that Ginga TV’s headquarters is the entrance to the enemy’s base and that the exit is the center of the galaxy, the Galaxy Cauldron. The girls are immediately suspicious of him, but he swears he only wants to help them defeat Galaxia. He says he will guide them to the enemy’s base but they must first decided who will go fight and in what order. To this end, he organises a game contest assisted by his three shadows ("Mizusakiannainin no Game"). The girls agree but refuse to let Usagi participate in case it’s a trap. The game is a scavenger hunt. The girls pair up in team and each team must send one of Kyaosu’s shadows to retrieve a certain object hidden in the audience. Once all three objects are found, the girls are sent to Ginga TV. They ask that Usagi have faith in them and she is left alone with Kyaosu who as yet another special game in store for her. He asks that she tell him in ten seconds all the memories she can’t forget. She takes too long to answer, but Kyaosu still says she can trust him and asks if she’s prepared, then sends her to Ginga TV.

Sailor Moon arrives in a room with televisions displaying Queen Beryl. Usagi asks where she has taken Endymion, and Beryl replies that he has become her husband. Queen Beryl says that she will relieve Usagi of all those memories she can’t forget and knocks her down with an attack before appearing in person. She reminds Usagi of her past life, how she stole Endymion and was responsible for the battle between the Earth and the Moon. Usagi begs the queen to stop making her remember those awful memories, but Queen Beryl replies that she will be the one to die this time. Beryl prepares to strike, but Kakyuu stops her, saying that if it is her life they are after, she will gladly give it to protect Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon begs the princess to go home to her planet, but Kakyuu says she is done running away. Princess Kakyuu asks Beryl why she would help Galaxia knowing that all stars will disappear under her reign, and if she doesn’t love this planet of which she was once the ruler. Queen Beryl replies that Sailor Galaxia promised to let her have Earth, but the Starlights laugh at her gullibility, saying she is being deceived. Just then, the Shitennou arrive and announce that Endymion has been killed.

The Animamates also appear and are revealed to be the ones who killed Tuxedo Mask. Distraught, Queen Beryl and her followers leave the scene, followed by the arrival of Galaxia who holds the Earth’s Star Seed in her hands and tells Sailor Moon that Tuxedo Mask died crying her name. Usagi pleads for Galaxia to give back Mamoru’s Star Seed, but Sailor Galaxia only knocks her down and says she will have to fight for it. Sailor Moon says she doesn’t want to fight. Galaxia is infuriated to hear this from a Sailor Senshi and sends a deadly blast at her, but Kakyuu steps in to protect her. As she dies, Princess Kakyuu begs her Starlights to keep protecting their last hope, Sailor Moon. The Starlights weep at the loss of their beloved princess, and Sailor Galaxia laughs at the foolishness of the Senshi who have faith in each other and sends the group elsewhere before flying away.

The Inner Senshi battle the Sailor Animamates, but when Galaxia appears they are all overpowered. Still, they refuse to join with the Shadow Galactica as they do not care to give their lives to protect their princess. Sailor Galaxia wonders why she is so important to them, and they say that she represents their dream, a Senshi like Galaxia who doesn’t believe in anything will never understand that. This greatly angers Sailor Galaxia, who summons Sailor Moon, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Neptune just so they can witness her killing their allies. As they die, the Inner Senshi sing about their love for Usagi ("Sorezore no Elegy"). Galaxia delivers the final blow and the Senshi disappear. Sailor Moon is completely devastated and blames herself for her friends’ deaths, but Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune tell her to stop crying as it won’t bring them back. Sailor Star Maker says they can’t possibly beat Galaxia, but Sailor Neptune tells her that it’s because of that kind of mindset that they were unable to protect their own princess. Sailor Star Maker admits that they are right and that the Starlights have no one to protect anymore. Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn arrive, and the latter asks them if they really have no one to protect, hinting that they still have Sailor Moon, which Sailor Star Fighter seems to understand. Sailor Uranus says it’s up to Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn to protect Sailor Moon. The two of them want to join Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune in battle, but Sailor Uranus reminds them that they promised that someone had to stay behind with the princess. Sailor Moon tries to stop Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, saying that she doesn’t want to lose any more important people, but the two Senshi remain firm and challenge Sailor Galaxia, demanding that she leave the other Senshi out of it.

Sailor Galaxia accepts and teleports the others away so that she is left alone with her two opponents. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune fight with all their strength but they are no match for her, and before she can finish them off her two Animamates arrive and request the finishing blow. Before they can attack, though, they are stopped by the Shitennou and Queen Beryl. The queen asks Galaxia if she was only revived to be used as a puppet. Sailor Galaxia admits without fear that they were all just her tools. The Shitennou say that they are Endymion's guard and Queen Beryl’s knights and therefore are more than glad to give up their lives for their beloved queen and planet. Sailor Galaxia replies that they should just be quiet and die, to which they answer that they will, as long as she joins them in death. Beryl is shocked by their loyalty and devotion, and they add that dying for her has always been their dream, and that because they killed their master, Sailor Galaxia and her minions have become their worst enemy. Infuriated, the Animamates attack them, but the Shitennou show they are more powerful. The Animamates ask their leader for help, but Sailor Galaxia simply dismisses their weakness and finishes them off before killing the Shitennou herself. Queen Beryl tries attacking her but is knocked down, and as Sailor Galaxia prepares to give her a dignified death, she is stopped by Sailor Saturn and Sailor Pluto. Beryl wonders why they saved her. Pluto answers that she did because they share the same unrequited love ("Onna no Ronsou"). Sailor Saturn then uses her powers to allow the queen to escape to the other end of space-time.

Sailor Galaxia says the people of this planet keep entertaining her. Sailor Pluto prepares to attack, but Sailor Uranus says she’s interested in serving Galaxia and asks Sailor Neptune if she will join her. Sailor Neptune says she would follow her even to hell. Sailor Galaxia observes that she is pleased to see that there are still some Senshi with brains and takes their Star Seeds. The two Senshi then appear with Galactica Bracelets on their wrists, ready to attack their former allies. Sailor Pluto cannot believe what is happening and asks why they did such a thing; they answer by saying that the others should know it is their way of fighting ("Orleans no Sei Senshi ~ Uranus - Neptune no Uragiri"). Sailor Galaxia is more than pleased with this display of betrayal, and summons Sailor Moon so she can witness her friends killing each other. As Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn die, they beg Sailor Moon to not stop believing in people. Sailor Galaxia gloats that her bracelets have turned Sailor Moon's former allies into her slaves and she orders them to kill Sailor Moon. At the last moment the two turn against Sailor Galaxia and blast her with their bracelets in order to get her Star Seed, but discover that she doesn’t have one. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune cannot believe it, and Sailor Galaxia calls them idiots before striking them with a deadly blast of power. As they die, they entrust their princess to the care of the Sailor Starlights and are able to hold hands one last time before disappearing.

Sailor Galaxia laughs, but Sailor Moon wonders if she really enjoys killing fellow Sailor Senshi, because she believes that in Galaxia's heart she knows this is not the way. This angers Galaxia, who orders her to shut up, but Sailor Moon refuses to stay silent. Beryl then reappears, proclaiming this is Galaxia’s defeat. Sailor Galaxia wonders how she came back and the queen explains that with Sailor Pluto dead, there is no one protecting space-time anymore. Sailor Galaxia taunts Beryl, saying she probably came back to die as she felt lonely, but Beryl says the real lonely one is none other than Galaxia, pointing out that even though Sailor Galaxia killed her friends, Sailor Moon would rather try to save her than hate her. She says that always fighting has made Galaxia the real miserable one. Galaxia then says she will make them hate her and takes her leave, revealing her strongest soldier, Tuxedo Mask. He quickly overpowers the Starlights and attacks Sailor Moon. Queen Beryl tries to reason with Galaxia but is knocked down by Tuxedo Mask. The queen begs Sailor Moon to fight as this Tuxedo Mask is not the real one, but is in truth one of Galaxia’s puppets. Even so, Sailor Moon cannot bring herself to fight her beloved. He tries to get her to fight, saying her reluctance to do battle caused her to lose her friends, but Sailor Moon says that they are not dead and that she believes she will see them again. Tuxedo Mask then prepares to kill her, but Queen Beryl steps in front of her and takes the blow in Sailor Moon's place. Before vanishing, Beryl says that without the Moon Princess, this world will be destroyed and she cannot allow that to happen. Even now with nothing left, she cannot hate Sailor Moon anymore and she can go meet with that girl who had a beautiful dream and froze to death.

Tuxedo Mask says his mission is to destroy the world, and for that he must kill Sailor Moon. However, as the Starlights try to intervene, Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon arrives and says that they must stand back and let Sailor Moon act alone as this battle will determine the fate of the world. Tuxedo Mask says that all the endless suffering will end with Sailor Moon’s death, but Sailor Moon is not ready to die yet and she sends a powerful blast at her opponent. She says she loves this world and that’s why she will once again fight to get her friends and Mamoru back ("Oitsumerarete"). She kills the fake Tuxedo Mask and Chibi Chibi reappears. She reveals herself to be the Light of Hope and takes Sailor Moon and the Starlights to the birthplace of all stars, the Galaxy Cauldron. She explains the story of the past: the source of all evil in the galaxy, Chaos, was born and threatened to plunge the world into his darkness. In order to stop him, the strongest Sailor Senshi in the galaxy, Sailor Galaxia, imprisoned him into her own body. As she felt him corrupting her, she sent her Star Seed to other end of the galaxy, where Chaos would not find it. Chibi Chibi explains that she the personification of this Star Seed and that now, without her, Galaxia has become a tyrant.

Sailor Moon and the Sailor Starlights arrive. Galaxia is glad to see Sailor Moon finally ready to fight but she explains that unlike Sailor Galaxia, her power does not come from hatred, but rather from her love and faith in her friends and their future. Sailor Galaxia shows them all the Star Seeds she has collected throughout the galaxy and says they'll have to fight to get them back. The Starlights decide to avenge their princess and entrust all their hope for the future to Sailor Moon and her Crystal. They combine all of their powers in one blast and manage to knock Galaxia away. Their joy is cut short when Galaxia reappears in a darker version of her sailor fuku. She attacks them, but Sailor Moon is convinced that this appearance is neither a real Sailor Senshi nor the real Galaxia, and she calls out to Galaxia, asking for her light. Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon answers her prayers and appears to persuade the corrupted Galaxia to give up all the fighting ("Mou Ii no"). Galaxia refuses to listen and attacks her, but Chibi Chibi flies away.

Chibi Chibi gives her powers to Sailor Moon, allowing her to transform into Eternal Sailor Moon. The Light of Hope then transforms into the Fuuin no Ken. Sailor Moon concentrates all the power of the sword into one powerful attack against Galaxia who is freed from Chaos’ influence. She thanks Sailor Moon before disappearing. Kyaosu than appears and is filled with joy at Galaxia’s defeat and his recovered freedom. He gives a thousand thanks to Sailor Moon and the Starlights. However, just as they are leaving him, his voice suddenly turns very deep and he reveals that he is in fact Chaos, and that they actually just freed him from Galaxia’s body. He jumps into the Galaxy Cauldron and becomes one with it, then knocks them all down with his power. He says that now that he is free, he has become the greatest force of destruction in the galaxy. He plans to take Sailor Moon’s Silver Crystal in order to return the galaxy to its original state of complete darkness.

The Senshi feel all of their strength being taken away. Chaos says that the Galaxy Cauldron, the birthplace of all stars, will become their grave. However, just as the Senshi are ready to give up, Sailor Galaxia appears with her hair loose and wearing a gold and silver cape. She attacks and severely weakens Chaos. She explains that the Cauldron is the origin of all lights and entrusts all of her hope for the future in Sailor Moon before plunging into the primordial sea of the Cauldron. Chaos then accuses Sailor Moon of murdering her siblings. He explains that all the enemies she has fought and killed in the past were all born from the Cauldron, as she was. He says that she is the light and that he is the darkness and that the time has come for them to become one again so that he may rule the entire universe. Sailor Moon is completely distraught after learning this, uncertain what to fight for anymore.

She begins to hear the voices of her friends cheering her on and telling her not to give up. They all appear before her and Sailor Mercury explains that Galaxia’s light released and guided them to her. Sailor Pluto says that no one can destroy the place where the stars are born and Sailor Mars adds that so long as this place exists, they will keep on living and that nothing can change that. They then hear the voices of Mamoru and Princess Kakyuu encouraging them all to fight, and Sailor Moon gives up all of her fear and hesitation. The Sailor Senshi are once again ready to fight to save the Galaxy ("La Fatalité Sei Senshi"). They unite all of their powers in one final blow and manage to finally destroy Chaos.

The victorious Sailor Senshi are amazed at the sudden flood of light. Princess Kakyuu appears and explains that they are all the stolen Sailor Crystals returning to their home planets. The Starlights wonder if it is due to the Silver Crystal's power, but Tuxedo Mask arrives and explains that it is due to the union of all the Sailor Crystals. Sailor Moon falls into the arms of her beloved and he tells her that the reason why all of their enemies seek her power is because they really seek the feeling that she gets from being loved by him and all of her friends. Sailor Moon understands that this is also why everybody wants to be one, because that is the way they all began, and Queen Beryl and even Chaos are also part of it. She is confident that they will be able to create a future for themselves, because everyone has their own Star Seed. That is why they must keep going forward: so they can create a story of love that lasts for all eternity ("Densetsu Seitan"). Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask stand together and all present kneel before the royal couple. During the curtain call Usagi and Mamoru are shown to have married, with the Solar System Senshi and the Starlights lining up to receive and congratulate them, as well as catching the bouquet.
