The year of the the convention is given as 1995 by the Ken Arromdee FAQ. While many sources give the year 1998, we have two facts in support of the year 1995:

  • Allen Hastings was invited as a guest to Anime Expo 1995, not 1998. See [1].
  • In the beginning of the video, you can see the words "Los Angeles Airport Hilton". The Anime Expo was held at this hotel only in 1995 and 1997. (See above link.)
