With Naru now infatuated with Nephrite's alias Masato Sanjoin, Usagi is powerless to stop her friend from being used by the increasingly desperate general.

Summary[edit]

Naru and Usagi are relaxing at the pool, but Naru is still dreaming about Sanjoin. She tells Usagi she is in love with him, and Usagi is horrified. She tries to warn Naru away, but just ends up upsetting her. Usagi consults the others for advice. Rei insists that they should tell Naru that Sanjoin is Nephrite, but Ami is not sure. Usagi declares that she will deal with the situation herself.

In the Dark Kingdom, a furious Queen Beryl finds herself unable to contact Nephrite. All of this is music to the ears of Zoisite, who goes to Earth to check up on Nephrite. Nephrite tells him that he will restore his honour by finding the Silver Crystal. He uses his powers to create a Black Crystal, to act as a guide to the Silver Crystal's whereabouts. It shows him Naru's image. Meanwhile, Zoisite and Kunzite continue to plot against Nephrite, and Zoisite orders one of his Youma, Yasha, to spy on their rival.

Usagi can't bring herself to speak to Naru, and instead goes to ask Motoki for advice. Mamoru also shows up, and they both offer her opinions. Motoki favours waiting to see how things turn out, while Mamoru tells her to be proactive and tell Naru the truth.

Eventually, Usagi works up the courage to tell Naru, but runs away straight after telling her. This has no effect on Naru, and that night she receives a phonecall from Sanjoin, telling her to meet him in the park.

Nephrite meets Naru and tells her that he is being targeted by dangerous people, and only the Silver Crystal will get him out of trouble. Naru recalls being shown a rare crystal by her mother, and assumes they must be one and the same. She runs home and takes it, but her mother catches her. Nevertheless, she escapes with the crystal. Meanwhile, Usagi and Luna are on their way to Naru's house when they meet her mother. She tells Usagi what happened, and she and Luna go to look for Naru. Usagi transforms into Sailor Moon.

Nephrite's Black Crystal does not respond to the crystal Naru gave him, but as Naru reflects on helping him, it begins to glow. He decides to investigate her further, not realising that Zoisite's Youma is watching him.

Sailor Moon confronts Nephrite, and tells Naru about Sanjoin's true identity. He attacks Sailor Moon with Starlight Attack, then Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars arrive to help. Just as Sailor Moon is about to finish Nephrite, Naru steps in to protect him. Despite the Sailor Senshi's protests, she refuses to move, saying she loves him. The Black Crystal lights up again, leading Nephrite to wonder if it is reacting to Naru's heart.

Zoisite's Youma sees the Black Crystal and assumes it is the Silver Crystal. She fights Nephrite, who drops the Black Crystal. Naru picks it up and is then attacked by the Youma. Nephrite strikes the Youma down, and Sailor Moon destroys it. Nephrite returns the crystal to Naru, but warns the Sailor Senshi that they will be doomed once the Dark Kingdom finds the Silver Crystal. As he leaves, Usagi sees a shooting star, and prays that Nephrite will not do anything else to hurt Naru...
