Director Asatou was the animation director of the fictional Sailor V anime in the Sailor Moon anime series. He was a demanding taskmaster, and his subordinates Hiromi Matsuno and Kazuko Tadashita despaired of making him happy.
He told Hiromi that her drawings did not reflect passion and love, referring specifically to a line drawn for Sailor V's leg. Hiromi accused him of wanting to make the Sailor Senshi "sexier," but he became embarrassed and denied it.
