Rei wins tickets for a romantic cruise and asks Ami to join her, prompting jealousy from Usagi. However, the cruise is actually part of a plot by Jadeite.
Summary
The frustrated Jadeite is approached by Thetis, one of Beryl's Youma, who has a plan to collect energy using a cruise ship. Soon after, a romantic cruise is being advertised in Azabu-Juuban. Usagi and Naru want to go, and are disappointed to find that Umino had tickets, but gave them away. Usagi soon discovers a raffle in the shopping district with the tickets as first prize, but she repeatedly loses. Rei walks by, and is amused by Usagi's interest in the cruise. However, she too tries the raffle, and uses her psychic powers to win.
Rei claims not to be interested in the tickets, but refuses to let Usagi have them. Instead, she offers them to Ami, suggesting they go together. Usagi overhears and is furious.
As Rei and Ami board the ship, Usagi uses the Disguise Pen (to Luna's horror) to transform herself into a photographer, and sneaks on board. The ship departs, with Jadeite and Thetis at the helm; it is actually a wrecked ship, disguised by Thetis. Usagi and Luna find themselves in the (suspiciously quiet) engine room when they are noticed by Jadeite.
Neither Jadeite nor Usagi recognise each other, and Usagi is actually quite taken with the 'captain'. She and Luna see Jadeite and Thetis discussing their plan, but cannot hear what they are saying. Luna suspects they are evil, but Usagi objects, claiming that Jadeite is too handsome to be evil - until he inexplicably disappears.
Thetis requests that all guests meet in the reception hall. There, she reveals her true nature and absorbs energy from the couples. Everyone is affected apart from Ami and Rei, neither of whom is in love. The pair try to battle Jadeite's minions but cannot transform for fear of revealing their identities. Just as it seems their plan has worked, Sailor Moon arrives. Thetis, with her ability to control water, is an unexpectedly strong opponent, but the distraction allows Ami and Rei to transform and join the fight. Sailor Moon eventually manages to destroy Thetis. Jadeite prepares to tackle the Senshi himself, but is forcibly recalled by the livid Beryl, who holds him responsible for the death of her Youma.
With Thetis' magic gone, the ship is revealed for what it is: a rusting derelict. The romantic cruise is over, but Usagi and Rei resolve to return, with boyfriends, if possible.
Episode trivia
