Minako realizes that she is the only one of the Sailor Team not to have been targeted for her Pure Heart Crystal, and takes increasingly absurd measures to prove her purity.

Summary[edit]

In her office, Eudial calls Professor Tomoe to inform him of new advances in her research. The witch explains that a humanoid shadow suddenly appeared on her computer screen as she collected data on the Holy Grail. Tomoe exclaims that the shadow must belong to the Grail's user, and goes on to explain that the mystical artifact can be used by a chosen one to either save the world or bring darkness to it. The Professor passionately declares they must find the Grail's rightful owner and ends up cracking the phone's handset in his excitement. Eudial agrees to continue searching for the Grail and adds that she will have the repair costs of the damaged phone deducted from the Professor's paycheck. A disgruntled Professor says the Sailor Senshi should pay for it instead.

The girls are studying at Rei's place. Makoto monitors Usagi as she completes a difficult math problem in record time. Usagi is elated, but when Ami points out that one of her calculations is off, the girl starts crying, saying she doesn't want to endure the pain of studying for the entrance exams anymore. Rei tells Usagi to stop overreacting and says this is nothing compared to the pain they had to endure when the enemy took their Pure Heart Crystals. Ami and Makoto agree and reminisce about their own experiences, leaving an annoyed Minako to silently ponder why was she the only one not targeted by the enemy.

Minako later confides her worries to Artemis, who suggests she may not have a pure heart after all, but when she rebukes him, the cat quickly retracts his comment. After Minako calms down, she sadly wonders if her supposed lack of a pure heart may be a result of her giving up on volleyball, her great passion. She claims not to care, but the following day she practices earnestly at the school's volleyball court. After exhausting herself, Minako turns around and is dismayed to find several of her stray balls have hit Usagi, who had been watching her by the door. Usagi dismisses her bumps and bruises and asks Minako if everything is alright. Luna and Artemis show up and Minako assumes she must be talking about her pure heart. Minako assures them several times that nothing is worrying her, but keeps contradicting herself, bitterly remarking under her breath about the Death Busters' incompetence in failing to notice her purity.

The girls and their cats stop on their way home so Minako can try her luck on an arcade claw machine. Usagi rightly guesses Minako intends to get herself targeted by the enemy and literally tries to shake her friend out of it. When Minako claims she would be able to retrieve her pure heart in case it was taken, a distressed Usagi repeatedly pushes Minako against the claw machine, causing Minako to inadvertently collect a number of good-luck dolls. After Minako insists she won't do anything reckless, the girls part ways, though not before Minako tries to convince her friend to keep half the dolls; Usagi politely refuses.

Minako's next stop is a bookstore. She consults a book titled "Guide to a Pure Heart," which theorizes that a pure heart devotes itself wholeheartedly to a single cause. Haruka and Michiru spot Minako from the other side of the aisle and say hello. Minako asks them what they would consider a pure-hearted individual to be like, and the two girls become suspicious, but relax when Minako promptly decides to become a blood donor at Haruka's suggestion. Minako hurries away, and Haruka says their mission must be causing them to overreact, though Michiru points out that Minako's enthusiasm does betray a dangerous innocence. Minako briefly returns to the bookstore to hand over a pair of the good-luck dolls as thank-you gifts, then leaves before they can refuse.

As Minako locates a mobile blood drive, Professor Tomoe contacts Eudial again. The witch says she's close to figuring out her next target, but worries the Sailor Senshi will get in her way again. The Professor then decides to create a Daimon out of a doorknob to ensure there will be no interference. In the meantime, Minako arrives at a second donation area, where she brazenly lies about being of age. Taking pride in her own purity, she reclines on a stretcher to have her blood drawn again.

This behavior goes on for a few days, to the point Ami, Rei, Makoto, and the moon cats take to stalking Minako to ensure she's safe from the enemy, and even Haruka and Michiru decide to keep an eye on her. Watching from among some bushes, the girls think Minako's actions will probably attract the Death Busters sooner or later, although Artemis can't help wondering aloud if Minako's questionable brand of altruism means she's truly pure. The ensuing awkward silence is broken when they see Usagi bringing Minako several bottles of vitamin supplements. As the girls and the cats anxiously watch Minako down the drinks, Eudial arrives in her car. She uses her Capture Gun to extract Minako's Pure Heart Crystal, but instead of fainting, Minako gets a hold of the Crystal and runs away while laughing maniacally. Eudial and Usagi chase after her, followed closely by Haruka and Michiru, but the rest of the girls and the moon cats are momentarily held back when Artemis trips over the many bottles Minako left behind.

Eudial and Usagi follow Minako into an underground parking garage, where the girl finally collapses. Eudial remarks on Minako's extraordinary mental strength and releases her Daimon Doorknobdar, who uses her special powers to seal off the building. Meanwhile, Haruka and Michiru barely manage to get inside the parking garage before the Daimon secures the last entry point. Eudial ignores Usagi's protests and reaches for the Pure Heart Crystal, forcing the girl to reveal her identity by transforming into Sailor Moon. The witch orders Doorknobdar to kill the Senshi, despite the Daimon's complaints that she wasn't created to fight. She clumsily attacks Sailor Moon, using her handheld shield to pin her down on the ground. As Eudial reaches for the Crystal again, Haruka and Michiru use the dolls Minako gave them earlier to stop her. Realizing they have no other choice, the girls transform into Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune.

Sailor Uranus uses World Shaking against Eudial, allowing Sailor Neptune to examine Minako's pure heart more closely. She determines there's no talisman inside, then hands it over to Sailor Moon, who returns it to Minako's body. In the meantime, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Jupiter arrive outside the parking garage and start using their attacks in an attempt to break down the door. An increasingly frustrated Eudial orders Doorknobdar to kill every last of them, and the desperate Daimon resumes her attacks, but Sailor Neptune blasts her with Deep Submerge. The cowardly Daimon gives up, and when Sailor Moon steps in, Doorknobdar begs the Senshi to take down Eudial instead. Sailor Moon uses Moon Spiral Heart Attack and Eudial counters with "Witches Eudial Fire Buster," sending a powerful blast from a flamethrower. The attacks collide in mid-air and ricochet off, destroying Doorknobdar.

The Daimon's seals vanish, allowing the remaining Senshi and the moon cats into the parking garage. Eudial tells them not to move and, boasting about the power of her Fire Buster, threatens to incinerate Minako if they don't do as she says. Once all the Senshi have gathered in the same place as ordered, Eudial suddenly announces her intention to kill them in one go. Before she can pull the trigger of her Fire Buster, however, Minako regains consciousness and stops the attack by throwing the remaining dolls at the witch. Minako transforms into Sailor Venus and a dumbfounded Eudial can only watch as the last Senshi uses Venus Love-Me Chain to destroy her weapon. Eudial screams in frustration and retreats, vowing to get her revenge now that she knows everyone's identities.

As Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune start to leave, Sailor Moon calls after them using their civilian names, much to the others' shock. The two Senshi briefly stop to remind the Sailor Team not to interfere with their mission, and when Sailor Moon protests, asking them not to go after more pure hearts, Uranus curtly cuts her off. Watching them go, the girls sadly contemplate the possibility of their new friends being enemies.

Later that night, Haruka stops her motorcycle on an empty coastal road. Staring gloomily at the moonlit sea, Haruka reproaches herself for her foolishness, but Michiru says she has no regrets, for if they hadn't transformed in front of the enemy they wouldn't have been able to save themselves or the other girls.
